2022 was a wonderful time in the doula books.
I supported 33 families
I attended 13 births (the blessing of partnership)
I did this all while pregnant
I had a baby (still 🤯)
I took some much needed time off maternity leave 😅
When I reflect on the experiences of the past year- the past 3 years, really, connection in spite of disconnection feels like the unifying theme. We’ve been in a pandemic for nearly the whole time I’ve been doing this work, and yet relationships built in this time have been most beautiful and most cherished. It has been an honor to have been brought into the fold to see families built. I once thought that it would be hard to be a doula without having given birth myself; now I’m so glad that to have had the memory of each of the births I’ve attended to lead me through my own.
I will return to taking on births when the time is right (aka babykins will tell me when I’m allowed), but I’m excited about all that birthwork will be this year, with fresh perspective.
